TEE OFF AGAINST ASTHMA - $60k raised
Figurehead's Annual Golf Tribute Match: A Resounding Success
Figurehead Construction's annual golf tribute match, managed by Maxfield and the Zoe Kennedy Founation, took place at the prestigious Moonah Links Golf Course and St Andrews Brewery. This year’s event was an outstanding success, completely selling out two courses with the enthusiastic support of Figurehead Construction's consultant and subcontractor network.
Record-Breaking Attendance
In 2024, the Zoe Kennedy Cup solidified its place as Moonah Links' biggest golf day, drawing over 200 participants. The event's popularity continues to grow, reflecting the community's commitment to supporting the Zoe Kennedy Foundation (ZKF) and its mission.
Fundraising Achievement
This year, the golf day raised an impressive $60,000 for the Zoe Kennedy Foundation. These funds are crucial for supporting ongoing research and initiatives aimed at improving asthma management and providing better care for young people affected by the condition.
FOUNDATION & RESEARCH UPDATES
This year, our guest speakers included a cast of medical professionals who are making a difference to the lives of young people and their families living with Asthma.
Dr. Ryan Mackle provided an update on his PHD - his team’s research was kick-started with Zoe Kennedy Foundation’s funds via Asthma Australia, which then enabled further investment into the virtual care project. Results from the Compass Project show significant improvements, including a median reduction of one emergency department visit and one hospital admission per patient, alongside a 0.5 reduction in general practitioner visits. Ryan’s research continues into 2024 and we’re incredibly impressed by the impact of his virtual care resources.

Dr. Sam Kennedy (Zoe’s Uncle, ZKF committee member) announced an exciting partnership with Dr. Ben McKenzie, Specialist Emergency Physician, PhD Candidate who tragically lost his son after an Asthma attack and advocating for the standard of care in this specialty and critical care generally. Dr. McKenzie is a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne investigating a novel resuscitation algorithm for anaphylaxis and asthma affiliated with the National Allergy Centre of Excellence, more about his AMAX-4 project here: AMAX4 | Just a routine resuscitation
We also introduced Sherri Barden, FANZCAP (CommPharm/Resp) Pharmacist and Asthma Educator. Specialising in respiratory medicine and asthma, in 2023 Sherri embarked on a new venture, offering consulting services to pharmacies across Australia through her APLUS Pharmacy consulting business with a specific focus on Asthma management, hayfever and eczema. Through virtual and face-to-face interactions, she enhances their expertise in asthma and hayfever management, conducts clinics within their pharmacies, and instructs on establishing their own clinics. Her emphasis lies in proficient medication delivery, adherence, and education pertaining to these conditions as well as an intercollaborative team care approach to best patient outcomes with GP's, Respiratory Physicians and other health care professionals.
Major Sponsor: Monno Projects
We are incredibly grateful to our major sponsor, Monno (formerly Costa Fox), whose generous support played a significant role in the event's success. Their commitment to the cause and their contribution to the fundraising efforts are deeply appreciated.
The Zoe Kennedy Cup at Moonah Links continues to be a highlight event, bringing together the community for a day of sport, camaraderie, and philanthropy. The funds raised will go a long way in supporting the ZKF’s initiatives, ensuring that we can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by asthma.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, sponsored, and supported the event. Your dedication and generosity make a real difference.
Save the date: the fourth annual Zoe Kennedy Cup will be held on Friday, 28th of February 2025.
